5GASP standardization and certification

How does 5GASP ensure alignment with the existing standardization and certification process of 5G in terms of compliance with the 3GPP standards and regulatory frameworks?

5GASP covers areas that have not been certified before. 3GPP certification schemes, as covered by the Global Certification Forum, GCF focuses on user equipment (UEs including IoT equipment). 5GASP introduces a certification framework for network applications, or AFs, in 3GPP language.

There is an exciting initiative kicked off by the GSMA at Mobile World Congress a few days ago, called Open Gateway (https://www.gsma.com/futurenetworks/gsma-open-gateway/). This initiative aims to provide a standardized API on top of the Network Exposure Function (NEF) interface, N33 (among many other APIs). It is based on the CAMARA mobile operator initiative (https://camaraproject.org/).

The 5GASP work could integrate well with these two initiatives, providing an automated and efficient certification testing framework for 5G Network Applications using multiple 3GPP, GSMA, or industry-based APIs. Potential future certifications of these programs could benefit from the work in the 5GASP project; certainly, there is no conflict with 3GPP standards and regulatory frameworks.
