Hi, can you help me understand how UEs are involved in the 5GASP CI/CD testbeds? Are they real devices, or rather emulated (or even “mocked”)?
The answer to this question is somewhat dependant on the testbed used by the nApp developer. Testbeds have real devices, for example Huawei P40 Pro’s, Intel NUC with a 5G modem (Sierra Wireless AirPrime - model EM9191). However from a CI/CD pipeline view point it has proven to be quite difficult to orchestrate real devices and they require extra care for remote access. There is on-going work to place a K8s cluster residing at the client-UE side of the 5G connection and allowing it to serve as a test “UE”, however this work still needs to be completed before it can be fully integrated.
